Hilltop Exotic Parrots

At Hilltop Exotic Parrots, the health, safety, and well-being of our birds is our highest priority. Because we sell live exotic parrots, our return policy differs from standard retail products. Please read this policy carefully before purchasing.


1. Live Bird Sales – No Standard Returns

Due to the sensitive nature of live animals and biosecurity concerns, all parrot sales are final once the bird has been picked up or delivered.

We do not accept returns or exchanges simply due to:

  • Change of mind

  • Lifestyle incompatibility

  • Allergies

  • Housing or landlord issues

  • Family objections

We strongly encourage customers to research parrot ownership thoroughly before purchasing.


2. Health Guarantee

All parrots sold by Hilltop Exotic Parrots:

  • Are examined prior to sale

  • Are active and healthy at the time of transfer

  • Come with a 72-hour health guarantee (or adjust timeframe as needed)

If your parrot shows signs of illness within 72 hours of purchase:

  1. You must contact us immediately.

  2. The bird must be examined by a licensed avian veterinarian.

  3. Written documentation from the veterinarian must be provided.

If a certified avian vet determines the bird had a pre-existing health condition at the time of sale, we may offer:

  • A replacement bird (when available), OR

  • A partial or full refund (at our discretion)

Veterinary expenses are not reimbursed unless pre-approved in writing.


3. Shipping Policy & DOA (If You Ship Birds)

If we ship parrots:

  • We only ship via approved, live-animal transport services.

  • Someone must be present to receive the bird upon arrival.

In the rare case of DOA (Dead on Arrival):

  • You must notify us within 1 hour of delivery.

  • Clear photos and video evidence must be provided.

  • The bird must remain in the original shipping container.

If verified, we will offer:

  • A replacement bird, OR

  • A refund excluding shipping fees


4. Deposits

  • Deposits are non-refundable.

  • Deposits secure a specific bird and remove it from public sale.

  • If the buyer cancels, the deposit will not be returned.


5. Rehoming Assistance (Optional but Recommended Section)

While we cannot accept returns, we care deeply about our birds. If you can no longer care for your parrot, please contact us. We may:

  • Offer guidance for responsible rehoming

  • List the bird on our platform (if applicable)

  • Provide educational support

We do not guarantee buy-back or repurchase.


6. Cancellations Before Pickup

Orders canceled before pickup or shipping may be subject to:

  • Loss of deposit

  • Administrative fees

Any remaining balance paid may be refunded at our discretion.


7. Customer Responsibility

By purchasing from Hilltop Exotic Parrots, you agree that:

  • You understand parrots require long-term commitment (20–60+ years depending on species).

  • You have appropriate housing, nutrition, and veterinary access.

  • You accept responsibility for the bird once it leaves our care.
